The electric car charger outputs direct current.

The electric vehicle charger is a device that converts high-voltage alternating current into low-voltage direct current and inputs it to charge the battery.

The structure of the electric vehicle charger can be divided into: power input line (220V power plug), box body, charging indicator light, power output line (connected to the electric vehicle battery) and model specification label. The charging indicator light is generally two colors: red indicating that it is charging, and green indicating that it is fully charged.

Extended data

The working principle of electric car charger is divided into three parts: voltage regulation part, rectification part and charging control part.

The voltage regulation part is to reduce the high voltage of 220V to the charging voltage required by the battery, such as the voltage of the 48V charger needs to be adjusted to about 60V, which is generally completed by the transformer.

The charging adjustment part is the technical core of the charger, which bears the feedback adjustment of the charger at various stages, and the common fault controller on the market is generally the fault of this part of the battery.

The output of the electric vehicle charger is generally direct current. This is because the motor and battery of the electric vehicle need direct current to work, and the output of the mains and charging pile are alternating current, so it is necessary to convert alternating current into direct current through the charger to supply the electric vehicle.

In international standards, most electric vehicles use a nominal 48 V or 72 V DC output. However, there are also high voltage systems that can convert mains, photovoltaic and even other forms of energy into special high voltage direct current for electric vehicles.

On this issue, the electric vehicle charger output current matches the electric vehicle battery, so the output current form is not fixed, both DC charger and AC charger.

In general, the fast charger will use AC charging, charging speed is faster, slow charger uses direct current charging, charging speed is slower but less damage to the battery. The specific type of charger output current used needs to be determined according to the electric vehicle model and charger specifications.
