South Yorotan gas field

The South Yorotan gas field is located in the Yorotan District of Mare Oblast, Turkmenistan, in the Amu Darya basin of the Karakum Desert, 75 km from the capital of Mare, near the Afghan border. The combined remaining technically recoverable oil and gas reserves in the field rank third in the world at 4.82 billion tons of oil equivalent. The first gas field was discovered in 2006. In December 2009, the development contract of the gas field was awarded to China's Sinopec Corporation, South Korea's LG Group and Hyundai Heavy Industries, and the UAE's Petrofac Emirates. Sinopec and Petrofac Emirates are responsible for the production of natural gas. LG and Hyundai Heavy Industries are responsible for the completion of the gas processing plant by the third quarter of 2012.

Gavar field

Ghawar oil and gas field is located in the east of Saudi Arabia, about 500km east of the capital Riyadh, mainly oil production, is the world's largest onshore oil field. The remaining technical recoverable reserves of crude oil reached 6.642 billion tons, and the total remaining technical recoverable reserves of oil and gas reached 8.126 million tons of oil equivalent. Saudi Arabia discovered it in 1948 in the Persian Gulf basin and began production in 1951 in the Jurassic carbonate rock, which is transported by a pipeline through the Rastanula oil port (the world's largest oil port).

South Pass gas field

The South Pars field is actually geographically integrated with the ninth-ranked North field, so the field is commonly referred to as the North - South Pars field. The North - South Pars oil and gas field is located in the Persian Gulf between Iran and Qatar, with a total area of about 9,700 square kilometers, of which about 3,700 square kilometers in the north of the South Pars gas field belongs to Iran and was discovered by the National Iranian Oil Company in 1990. The total remaining technically recoverable oil and gas reserves of the field rank first in the world, reaching 9,424 million tons of oil equivalent, and the total remaining economically recoverable oil and gas reserves also reach 5,492 million tons of oil equivalent. CNPC had signed a cooperation development agreement with the National Iranian Oil Company in 2017, in which Total of France, CNPC of China and the National Iranian Oil Company held 50.1%, 30% and 19.9% respectively. However, due to various factors, CNPC withdrew from the South Pass gas field development project in 2019.

The Persian Gulf Basin oil and gas belt, the East Venezuela Basin oil and gas belt and the West Canada Basin oil and gas belt are the most abundant foreland basin oil and gas belt in the world. According to the analysis of the latest oil and gas geological data, there are obvious differences in their oil and gas distribution characteristics and resource structure.

Regionally, oil and gas are distributed in the thrust fold belt and forebottom-slope belt of the three foreland basins, but the oil and gas are mainly distributed in the forebottom-slope belt.

Over 91.0% of the oil and gas reserves in the Persian Gulf Basin are distributed in the passive marginal strata, while the oil and gas in the Eastern Venezuela basin and the Western Ga Basin are mainly enriched in the foreland basin strata.

The oil and gas resources in the Persian Gulf Basin are mainly conventional oil and gas, while the East Venezuela Basin and West Canada Basin are most rich in unconventional heavy oil and natural bitumen.
