B.T. Berth Terms or Safe Berth Terms: A term indicating that the contract of carriage is subject to the customs and conditions of the loading port, that the ship can only arrive at the berth for loading during high tides, or that only part of the cargo can be loaded in the port, and the rest must be loaded outside the port after the ship has left the port, which requires not only sufficient water depth and good safety facilities for navigation, berthing, handling, etc., but also political security. That is, there are no political factors endangering the safety of ships such as war and riot.
FI, also known as the shipowner free of charge clause, one of the loading and unloading clauses of bulk cargo in international shipping. It is one of the terms of international shipping of bulk cargo that the charterer shall bear the loading charges at the port of loading and that the ship shall only discharge the cargo during the carriage and upon arrival at the port of destination.
