Qingdao University (QU), located in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, is a key comprehensive university of Shandong Province, a university jointly built with Qingdao City and a university of Shandong Province.
The earliest source of the school was the Qingdao Special Higher Specialized School, which was founded in 1909 and later became the Qingdao Special Medical School. The other source is the private Qingdao University, which was founded in 1924, and later experienced the periods of National Qingdao University and National Shandong University. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, National Shandong University merged the Qingdao Special Medical School and set up a medical college, which later became the Qingdao Medical College. In 1993, the former Qingdao University was merged with Qingdao Medical College, Shandong Textile Institute of Technology and Qingdao Normal College to form the new Qingdao University.
