Connecting the iPad to the new WiFi won't affect its ability to charge. Charging and connecting to WiFi are two different functions, and there is no direct correlation between them. Even if you connect to the new WiFi, your iPad will still charge normally. If you experience charging problems, check that the charger and charging cable are working properly, or try using a different charger and charging cable.
